BRAINTREE Cricket Club celebrated a hugely successful year at their end-of-season dinner and presentation at Braintree Golf Club.

Vice-chairman Jamie Foyster congratulated all teams that had represented the club over the season from the under-11s through to the senior first-team and thanked all those who gave up their time to allow the teams to compete.

Sunday captain Mal Fulgrabbe congratulated his team of youngsters that had finished in equal second position in Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division C and revealed that their player-of-the-year was 16-year-old Calley Foyster, who was the third leading wicket-taker in the league.

Captain Geoff Eveling handed over to Jamie Foyster to award the second-team player-of-the-year to Eveling himself, which was a fitting reward for his all-round performances throughout the season.

First-team captain Will Jackson then spoke highly of his team that had finished in a creditable seventh position in their return to division one of the Two Counties Championship.

Although everybody had made major contributions over the summer, he made special mention of the performances of Dean Bass and Dan Chalk, however, the player-of-the-year was awarded to Chris Leech, who had made the opener,s position his own by scoring the best part of 550 runs.

Jamie Foyster announced that winner of the Tom Gould Spirit of Cricket Award was Quincy Titterton.

Not only had the Australian performed excellently for the firsts and had been a great source of entertainment, he had spent hours coaching the club's colts, gone into local schools and also spent time a lot of time with Braintree Mencap.
