HALSTEAD Road Runners had four of their members competing at the Clacton Half-Marathon.

The 13.1 mile route was run along the coastal roads, but was made tougher by blustery conditions.

Adam Buckle made it first home for the club in two hours two minutes seven seconds, shortly followed by Mick Purkiss, who had a fantastic run in 2h 15m 44s.

Debbie Partridge and Axel Voight finished within a few seconds of each other, rounding off results with 2h 29m 58s and 2h 30m 6s respectively.

Also in long-distance action were Halstead duo Andy Wilmot and Dan Smith at Wheathampstead in Hertfordshire.

The race was the popular annual Laila's Run - 27-mile course completed over four undulating mixed-terrain laps.

Smith enjoyed the early stages as he competed for the lead over the first ten miles and finished well in 4h 32m 7s, but injury prevented Wilmot from running to his full potential and he came home in 5h 20m 34s.
