ALAN Luetchford led the way as Braintree and Bocking Angling Society fished for their Winter League Trophy on the Cable Pond at Clare.
The roach failed to show in their usual numbers and the competitors spent more time fishing for the carp, which gave excellent weights for those who caught them.
Luetchford had carp to 17lbs, along with some good silvers, to give him a total winning weight of 85-12-0.
Sections (excluding winner): 1 Mick Banks 48-2-0, 2 G Spong 57-14-0, 3 B Walker 17-0-0.
The Friday Sweep at Notley saw a close finish as two anglers landed F1s at intervals during the match.
The scales gave the verdict to John Daniels, with a total of 23-5-0, from Kevin Howell, who fell one fish short at 22-0-0.
Braintree's Club Pairs Sweep at Rayne Lodge on Sunday will be fished on the Middle Lake and not the Bottom as stated in the club card.
