Witham Town were unable to build on another leading position as their Ryman League premier division survival bid suffered a blow at East Thurrock United.
Garry Kimble's team had been hoping to build on their 1-0 win against Peacehaven and Telscombe in midweek that had lifted them out of the relegation zone.
And they appeared on course to achieve that when Lewis Godbold fired them into the lead on 39 minutes.
However, not for the first time this season, Witham failed to hold on to that advantage.
They were pegged back by a Sam Higgins goal on the stroke of half-time and Higgins got another from the penalty spot in the 78th minute to leave Witham pointless and back in the relegation positions.
Their day was made even more miserable by Paul White getting sent off with six minutes remaining.
