HALSTEAD Hospital are appealing for volunteers to boost their team.

The hospital are looking for volunteers to run activity sessions, such as reading to patients or playing games with them.

Volunteering is a great way of helping the local community and hospital volunteering can make a big difference to people in hospital, especially for people who do not have relatives to visit them.

Volunteer Coordinator, Lorraine Pendleton, said: "All our volunteers receive training and we welcome volunteers who have a few hours a week to spare or who could just come in occasionally.

"Sessions could be reading with patients, playing games or, after training, doing some simple seated exercises with patients."

Volunteering at a hospital is a perfect way to gain hands on experience, and can be very useful for people looking for a career in health care and training is provided for individual roles.
