A BEER festival was put on in the glorious sunshine at Halstead Cricket Club at the weekend.

Nearly 300 keen ale and cider enthusiasts flocked to the club on Sunday May 29 for a wide selection of locally brewed beers and ciders.

A total of 17 different beers were on offer and four ciders, sourced from brewers in Colchester, Maldon and various other breweries in Essex.

Richard Hume, Bar Manager at the cricket club, said: “We had a huge mixture of different tasting ales and ciders on that were enjoyed by all drinkers who passed through.

“There were no clear favourites of the day, a mixture of people with a mixture of tastes found different ones they liked and drank throughout the day.

“All of them across the board were liked in some shape or form.

“The weather was gorgeous and everything went to plan during the festival, a good result of the effort put in by everyone involved.”
