GREAT Wakering Rovers star Harry Talbot wants his team to be written into the club’s history books at Wembley this weekend.

Rovers face Romford in the final of the FA Vase at the world famous home of English football.

And Talbot is desperate to make the most of an ‘opportunity of a lifetime.’

“There’s been a lot of talk about the occasion and the stadium etc but when we travel today it will be full focus on the job at hand,” said Talbot.

“Of course it can definitely be a distraction with it being at Wembley and the occasion itself but ultimately we want to win this and write our name in Wakering history.

“The only way to make that happen is by focusing on the game and ensuring we claim the trophy.”

Talbot has played a starring role in Wakering’s run to Wembley.

But it is now only starting to feel real for the goal-getting winger.

“I can’t wait,” said Talbot.

“It’s been a long and hard journey to get here, but it’s really starting to sink in that soon I’ll be walking through the halls of Wembley and on to that pitch.

“It means the world to me.

“It’s a boyhood dream to play at Wembley in front of thousands of people but it makes it even more special that I get to do it with this amazing group of people and with this special football club.”

And Talbot will also be roared on by a large group of family and friends.

“I think it will be around 80 or 90 people,” said Talbot.

“I’m not entirely sure but I bought more than 50 tickets for my family etc and have groups of friends coming.

“Around 15 of my work colleagues are coming too.

“I usually get none, so it’s going to make it even more special.”

Wakering boss Marcus Bowers has echoed those sentiments and heads into tomorrow’s final boosted by a day of watching Southend United train.

“I was invited down to watch a training session by Kevin Maher and the management team were all very welcoming,” said Bowers.

“They gave me confidence and made me feel good to be honest.

“They gave me some tips and were really interested in what we did and our schedule.

“I watched training and took a lot from it.

“I’ve used a few bits in our training session this week so it was hugely beneficial.”
