PUPILS of an Earls Colne school have received hundreds of Easter eggs thanks to a local firm.

Milbank Concrete Products, based on Earls Colne Business Park, visited Earls Colne Primary School and Nursery and delivered 420 Easter eggs to lucky students.

The firm, which is part of the Millbank Group, is a leading precast concrete manufacturer and more than 75 years old.

The business rolled out a community outreach programme last year which supports local organisations, charities and causes.

As well as the Easter eggs, the school received 50 bags of sweets and computer equipment worth more than £1,500 in total.

Headteacher Jakki Sibley said: “We were absolutely delighted with the generous donation from Milbank Concrete Products.

“We’re really excited to see the reaction on the children’s faces and the donation will certainly ease the pressure some of our parents are facing as a result of the cost-of-living crisis.

“In addition to the Easter treats, the ICT equipment will go a long way to supporting our pupil’s education and enabling our teachers to enhance their lessons further.

“Milbank Concrete Products is just a stone’s throw away from our school so receiving support from such a local business means a lot to us.

“Their commitment to the community is truly commendable, and we are incredibly grateful for their contribution to the wellbeing and educational development of our pupils.”

Milbank Concrete donated 12 computer towers and screens to the school’s ICT department providing computer equipment to support the children’s digital education.

The company has also pledged £200 to Halstead firefighters who are climbing Ben Nevis for charity, and is donating £1,200 to cover the cost of new football kits and wet weather gear for Tiptree Jobserve FC U10 football team.
