A SCHOOL’s learning program has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.

Gosfield School's Early Years Program has been recognised as a finalist for the ISA Award for Excellence and Innovation.

The Early Years Program at the school was selected by experienced adjudicators appointed by the Independent Schools Association.

Gosfield School is one of just three finalists for the national award.

The program was highlighted in an independent schools inspection last December, where it was noted children in the EYFS and prep school make "excellent progress”.

The report added: “They demonstrate excellent communication skills and are respectful and considerate when interacting with one another.

“Children have a strong understanding of their responsibilities to each other and the community and are encouraged to "understand and celebrate diverse cultures" and "be themselves and accept others."

It also said children possess "a highly developed sense of self-understanding" due to “strong pastoral care”, adding how “staff nurture positive attitudes through enthusiastic and warm praise”.

A parent testimonial described the care the staff show the children as “simply amazing”.

It added: “The range of activities available is wonderful, my child didn't know she was learning as she was learning through play.

“The nursery is certainly head and shoulders above any I have personally seen and couldn't be more grateful for the progress my child made."

Head of Gosfield Prep School and Nursery Heather Bougeard said: “Excellence and Innovation run throughout the whole school, but it is right that this starts with our youngest pupils.

“It is a privilege to work closely with the Early Years Team as they support all children to reach their full potential and flourish as individuals.

“The Early Years Team at Gosfield School have unrivalled enthusiasm, experience and commitment, caring for every child and ensuring every day is an adventure in learning.

“It is fantastic to have the head of EYFS Mrs Smith, nursery manager Mrs Gibbons and the rest of the EYFS team’s hard work and dedication acknowledged in this way.”

Limited places are available in Gosfield Prep School and Nursery for an immediate start, with parents also encouraged to register interest now for September 2024.

The school’s open morning takes place on Saturday, October 7.
