MUSIC lovers flocked to a festival in memory of a man who was tragically killed in a car crash.

Coz Fest took place in Gosfield as a party for the Coran “Coz” Powell charity.

The charity was set up in the memory of Coz, 21, who died after a crash in Braintree Road, Gosfield, in December 2014.

Coz’s friend James Simmons, 18, also died in the crash as did the driver of the other car, David Bradley, 30, of Beckers Green Road, Braintree.

Musician Coz’s family organised a host of bands to play along with stalls, a barbecue and entertainment.

More than 150 people attended to support the cause.

Gennie Powell, Coz’s mum, said: “It was fabulous, absolutely wonderful.

“If the weather had been nicer we might have had a few more people but it would have been more hard work considering it was our first time doing anything like this.

“The atmosphere was fantastic and everyone was there for the right reasons.

“We had a recorded message from Bullet For My Valentine sent from their tour.

“My niece ran the Sydney half marathon and she raised £600 so all in all we raised over £2,000.

“We are still waiting for our registration number to come through, but there was talk of doing a Christmas bazaar in the future.”

“We would like to thank Witham, Braintree Marks Farm and Braintree Town centre Tesco who donated loads to help our tombola.”
