Hedingham School is delighted with their best ever GCSE examination results.

The school were huge encouraged with the progress of students at all levels in relation to their starting points, with students achieving on average half a grade higher than expectation in every subject.

One of many outstanding achievements was 70% of students achieving an A*-C grade in both English and Mathematics, one of the new important school performance measures.

68% of students achieved 5 A*-C grades including English and Mathematics which is a significant improvement from last year.

The examination results show a consistency in excellent outcomes for students but also an improving and upward trend.

There were superb results in a number of subjects and a large number of outstanding individual performances by the students.

Francesca Swystun achieved eight A*s and one A (as well as an A grade in A/S Level German), Henry Ling achieved seven A*s and one A, Freddie Hoogewerf achieved six A*s and four As.

Other notable performances include: Oliver Boyle with five A*s and six As; Emily Casey, Felicity Coulson and Mia Carra-Gibbs achieved 4 A*s, 5 As.

There were so many notable student performances with over 20 students achieving a combination of eight A* and A grades.

John Panayi, Headteacher, said: "I am extremely pleased with the GCSE results gained by our students and wish to congratulate them for their commitment and hard work to attain their excellent examination outcomes.

"A record number of students in this cohort exceeded target grade and a special mention must go to English who achieved outstanding results.

"Within a changing examination landscape where grade boundaries and patterns of entry have altered, it is very good to note that Hedingham School has maintained high expectations for our students which is reflected in their results.

"This consolidates our standing as a good school."

I would also like to thank all staff for their tremendous work to ensure the success of their students, and parents and Governors for their continued support.’
