A TEEN entrepreneur has left school to pursue his passion for radio-controlled racing cars.

Mark Rumble, 18, an ex Gosfield School student, received an A grade in A Level Economics and Business and D grade in A Level ICT last week.

His sister Amy is now at university after she achieved 13 A*s and an A at GCSE- but university did not appeal to Mark.

Whilst at school Mark, from Acorn Avenue in Braintree, started racing radio-controlled cars and was travelling around the country to compete.

He said: "My original business came from a passion for racing cars. I started racing when I was 15 and soon I was travelling a large amount.

"At 16 years old I took all of the necessary measures to start an online and trackside shop."

After starting the business he developed a relationship with manufacturer and distributor Nemo Racing.

He said: "I started to support their products and it came up in conversation that I was looking for a job as I was not going to university.

"At Gosfield there was support for individuals not looking to take the conventional route of university.

"I was offered an interview with Nemo Racing, and now I work for them full time."

He picks and packs orders at the company based in Oxford, and manages the company's website.

His dream is to help the company expand, as they have recently set up a depot in America.

He said: "Racing is my life. As a young person there are still things I need to learn but there's also lots I can offer.

"My sister was incredibly academic, but a big thing for me was that my family was so supportive.

"Gosfield School made me the individual I am today."

He was runner-up last week at a competition at a race track in Clanfield, near Portsmouth.

On Thursday morning, August 25, he went to Italy to compete in a race near Milan.
