A GUACAMOLE dip sold in several supermarket chains has been recalled because it may contain Salmonella.

Manufacturer Bakkavor supplies the dip to retailers including the Co-op, Tesco, Sainsbury's and Waitrose.

The Food Standards Agency has issued a notice warning of the "possible presence of salmonella" in products with use by dates up to and including July 2.

The FSA added: "Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps."

Tesco

  • Tex Mex Dip Selection. Pack sizes: 210g and 428g
  • Guacamole. Pack size: 163g
  • Smokehouse Naked BBQ Beef Burrito Salad. Pack size: 300g

Sainsbury's

  • Guacamole. Pack size: 170g
  • Tex Mex Mini Multipack. Pack size: 240g
  • Tex Mex Multipack. Pack size: 500g
  • Old El Paso Mix 'N' Mex Chilled Dip. Pack size: 400g

Waitrose

  • Tex Mex Multipack. Pack size: 400g
  • Tex Mex Mini Multi. Pack size: 240g
  • Reduced Fat Guacamole. Pack size: 200g
  • Guacamole. Pack size: 200g

Co-op

  • Guacamole. Pack size: 200g
  • Mini Tex Mex Dip Selection. Pack size: 240g

The FSA advice added: "If you have bought any of the above products, do not eat it. Instead take it back to the retailer where you will be given a full refund."
