Halstead’s first May Day celebrations have been hailed a big success.
More than 1,500 people turned out for the event on Monday in the town’s public gardens.
There was maypole dancing, stalls and stands from local organisations, a nursery rhyme themed fancy dress competitions and much more.
It was organised by the Friends of Halstead Public Gardens and the day was overseen by May Day Queen Annie Barter, 15.
Organiser Wendy Pickess said: “The organisers are delighted."
