A bus and four cars have collided in Sudbury Road, Halstead.
A woman was taken to hospital with a back injury after the incident at 7.30pm last night. She was taken to Colchester hospital but is not thought to be in a life threatening or serious condition.
A man was also treated at the scene for minor injuries.
An East of England Ambulance spokesman said: “We sent several vehicles including an ambulance, a rapid response team and a hazardous area response team due to the nature of the incident.”
Two fire engines from Halstead and one from Sible Hedingham also attended the scene.
A spokesman from the fire service said: “Nobody was trapped so firefighters made the scene safe by putting sand down over the fuel spills.
“They left the scene just after 8pm.”
