Colne Engaine’s legendary barrel hunt is back.
Last year, 90 people turned up to take part in the competition, which sees groups compete over either a three mile or a one and a half mile route, following maps to find a barrel.
They then have to race it back as quickly as possible, with the winners having their names engraved on the barrel and also winning hampers of sweets for children and goodies for adults.
Organised by the Five Bells pub in Colne Engaine, the hunt has taken place for ten years, with proceeds going towards the Essex Air Ambulance.
Last year, they raised £450, and in total have raised more than £5,000.
The hunt takes place on Boxing Day and starts at the pub with registration at 10am.
Mince pies will be available at the pub after the hunt has taken place.
There is no need to book a place - just turn up and get stuck in.
